A couple with two young boys purchased a home in the southeast Michigan countryside. Looking to remodel, they embarked on a four-phase project using Ekocite Architecture for the designs. During the second phase, the kitchen was fully remodeled. This was done to improve traffic flow, add more space, and have an attached dining area. Additionally, the couple’s young boys needed a space for their jackets and dirty shoes after playing outside.
To add more kitchen space and a dining area, Ekocite worked with the clients to redesign the room. Moving the kitchen back a few feet, using some of the space of a nearby room, the area now has an island and a spacious place to dine. A mudroom was also designed next to the kitchen with lots of cubbies and shelves. This now provides an easy flow from the garage to the inside, without all the dirt.
Included in the project:
- Modern kitchen with attached dining area.
- Better traffic flow through the main floor and from the outside.
- Mudroom between kitchen and garage for added space.
